Kamareddy: Government whip Gampa Govardhan faced the ire of Dalits, who intercepted his convoy for not extending Dalit Bandhu benefit to the eligible candidates, in Bibipet mandal on Sunday. Govardhan visited Seri Bibipet, Tuljapur villages to take part in developmental programmes.

The protestors, who raised slogans against Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao who decided to contest from Kamareddy Assembly constituency, prevented the MLA from entering their village Bibipet.

However, the police cleared the way for his convoy by taking the protestors into their custody. Mild tension prevailed as the protesters alleged that Zilla Parishad vice chairman Pariki Prem Kumar attacked them. Meanwhile, Congress and BJP leaders strongly condemned the police action against the peaceful protest by Dalits.
