HYDERABAD: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Saturday sought to ridicule BJP’s Munugode bypoll candidate Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy seeking reelection on the BJP ticket from the constituency asking what development is he promising the people “after resigning from a six-member party and joining one that had just three MLAs.”

The TRS campaign in-charge for Munugode and Minister G Jagadish Reddy, addressing a press conference, said people in the constituency were asking what Rajgopal Reddy hopes to achieve joining an even smaller BJP after quitting from a small Congress party. “What does one make of his move?” Jagadish Reddy asked, adding that the bypoll was a result of a “selfish man” bringing this upon himself after being “rewarded with a Rs 22,000 cr contract for having undermined the Congress for three years, and then joining the BJP. How will people accept this?”

He said the Munugode bypoll was a result of the BJP’s inability to digest the development in Telangana under the TRS government. “This is an attempt by the BJP to cover up its own failures nationwide, to divert attention of people from the increasing following K Chandrashekar Rao is getting across the country, and a conspiracy to undermine Telangana’s progress,” he said.

Declaring that Rajgopal Reddy had no “moral right to contest”, and that he “sold away the trust of people in Munugode,” Jagadish Reddy said if the “BJP is voted, then agricultural borewells will see power meters fixed, followed by implementation of power sector reforms, and people will witness further hikes in petrol and diesel prices.”
