TIRUNELVELI: The ‘All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi (AISMK) is exploring the possibility of fighting the election on its own without any  alliance, said party president and actor R. Sarathkumar, after being re-elected leader of the party.

Speaking to mediapersons after his party’s special state general council here  on Sunday, Sarathkumar, who is the sitting MLA from Tenkasi, said that the general mood of his party cadres was to go it alone in the ensuing Assembly election.

“This will not be a bad decision as it will help us to realise our original strength,” said Sarathkumar, who added that as all the other parties were still in an indecisive mood with regard to the alliance issue, the AISMK was also keenly watching the situation to take a final decision.

Having been entrusted with the responsibility of taking the final decision, he promised his party functionaries that he would eventually take a good decision, not only for the general welfare of the party, but also to uphold the welfare of individual leaders and cadre of AISMK.
