VIJAYAWADA: The ruling YSR Congress has said Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has fulfilled 98 per cent of his 2019 poll promises through Navaratnalu and introduced new schemes under his welfare and development agenda.

The claim was made during celebrations marking the completion of five years of Jagan's Praja Sankalpa Yatra, at the party’s central office here on Sunday.

Minister for housing Jogi Ramesh and minister for social welfare Merugu Nagarjuna said everyone in the party would now work with the aim of raising the party’s assembly strength from 151 to 175 seats. They should also ensure the defeat of Pawan Kalyan and Chandrababu Naidu and help the party wrest the Kuppam seat.

Minister Ramesh said Jagan's Praja Sankalpa Yatra is written in golden letters in the history books. He explained that Jagan implemented almost 98 per cent of his promises to the people, within three years of him assuming power. He said Naidu and Pawan Kalyan are aiming to mar peace in the state.

He said no one can separate Jagan from the people. Even if the collapsed TD and the ruined Jana Sena came together, “they will not be able to shake the stronghold of the YSR Congress party.”

Minister Ramesh said “our goal is 175” and asked the party activists to work with the aim of defeating everyone including Chandrababu Naidu in Kuppam and also Pawan Kalyan by a landslide majority.

Minister Nagarjuna said that the padayatra was undertaken in the name of Praja Sankalpa Yatra at a time when democracy was turned into a mockery during Chandrababu's rule and it created a history. He said Jagan took that decision in the background of the hardships the people were facing. “It resulted in a social revolution. The padayatra has given an opportunity for AP to lay out a golden path for the future of the state and its future generations.”

Minister Nagarjuna explained that YS Jagan was the leader who gave power to SCs, STs, BCs and minorities and asked them not to believe in the “misleading” words of those like Chandrababu and Pawan Kalyan.

Government Whip in the legislative council and MLC  Janga Krishnamurthy said Jagan brought about a change in the social conditions in the state and gave “political priority” to the downtrodden sections.  Jagan gave a prominent place in politics to the suppressed communities in the government and party.

MLC Lella Appi Reddy, Unguthur MLA Puppala Srinivasa Rao (Vasubabu), YSRC Party activists’ coordinator Putta Pratap Reddy, Government Whip and MLC Dokka Manikyavaraprasad, AP Fiber Net chairman Poonuru Gautham Reddy, vice chairman of Navaratnalu Program Narayana Murthy, Guntur city mayor Kavati Manohar Naidu and other party leaders spoke.

At the event, YSRC leaders felicitated the party leaders, activists and others who participated in the Praja Sankalpa Yatra along with Jagan.
