Hyderabad: The BJP on Thursday said that it would launch a five-point strategy to take on the ruling TRS as well as strengthen the party among the masses, with the ultimate goal being victory in the 2019 general elections.

Inaugurating the party’s two-day state executive meeting in Mahbubnagar, TS BJP president K. Laxman said that since the main Opposition Congress has failed miserably in its role as the main opposition and is still unable to overcome its internal differences, the BJP alone will be the political alternative to the ruling TRS.

Dr Laxman expressed confidence that the party would emerge victorious in the next elections.

Interestingly, during his hour-long inaugural speech, Dr Laxman skipped mention altogether of any further tie-up with the TD, which is part of the NDA alliance at the Centre.

The five-point strategy, approved by the party’s central committee, would be taking up various agitations to exert pressure on the government on all public issues, highlighting the Central government’s schemes and their successes, taking up awareness programmes on implementation of various Central government schemes, inducting youth and other sections of the society into the party by canvassing that support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP is for national interest, touring villages in all Assembly constituencies with 2019 as the target.

Dr Laxman said now was the right political opportunity for the BJP to grow politically as a party and reach to grab power as the rest of the Opposition is in dire straits and the ruling TRS is losing credibility by the day.
