VIJAYAWADA: State BJP chief D. Purandeswari has welcomed the Centre’s proposal to rename India as Bharat and said such a mention had been made in the Indian Constitution itself.

During the Sri Krishnashtami celebrations at  Peda Vadlapudi village in Mangalagiri in Guntur district on Thursday, Purandeswari performed ‘Gau Puja’ in the Gosala and conveyed her best wishes to the people on this pious occasion.

Referring to the call from Tamil Nadu minister Udayanidhi Stalin for eradication of Sanatana Dharma, she said, “No Hindu would accept this,” and maintained that Sanatana Dharma was part and parcel of the life of all Indians. “Let us preserve this,” she said.
