Vijayawada: Vijayawada Lok Sabha member Kesineni Srinivas (Nani) is all set to resign from the Telugu Desam (TD) and also give up his MP post.

Nani announced his decision on his social media handle on Saturday. This is reportedly after the party had decided not to give him a ticket in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

He said that it was not proper for him to continue in the TD after party leader N. Chandrababu Naidu felt that the party no longer requires him.

"Therefore, I will soon go to Delhi to meet the Lok Sabha speaker and resign as MP. Immediately after the resignation is accepted, I will quit the TD," he said.

The development comes amid reports that TD has decided to field Nani's brother Kesineni Srinath (Chinni) as its candidate in the coming elections. Chinni is TD's Vijayawada constituency in-charge. It should be noted that supporters of the two brothers had clashed three days ago at Tiruvuru where Naidu is scheduled to address a public meeting on Sunday.

Nani had revealed on social media that Naidu has directed him not to be involved in party affairs. He said that at the behest of Naidu, some party leaders informed him that Naidu was intending to provide an opportunity to someone else as the Vijayawada Lok Sabha candidate.

It may be recalled that Nani was elected as MP from Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency in 2014 and re-elected in 2019.
