Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party state president Dr K. Laxman on Thursday hit out at IT minister K.T. Rama Rao for saying that the Centre was not supporting Telangana state. Dr Laxman called it “double standards”.

Dr Laxman dared Mr Rama Rao to an open debate on funds released by the Centre to the state for development activities and welfare schemes.

Speaking to the media at the BJP state headquarters, Dr Laxman alleged that Mr Rama Rao in his meeting with Union ministers in Delhi praised them for their support. But on his return to the state, he was levelling allegations against the Centre.

He accused the state government of not releasing its share of funds for the construction of railway projects including the Kothapalli-Manoharabad and Akkannapet-Medak lines.

He said as far as the bullet train project is concerned, the state government has to first complete the pending railway projects by releasing its share of funds and then request the Centre for the Bullet Train.

He alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and his son Rama Rao are trying to grab defence lands in the name of constructing the new buildings for the Secretariat and Assembly.
