Telangana Home Minister Must Resign, Demands BJP

Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party state executive committee member Gudur Narayana Reddy on Friday demanded Home Minister of Telangana Mahamood Ali to resign to his post for slapping a police officer on the face in the public.

He alleged that Telangana Home Minister Mahamood Ali has been behaving like a Razakar and treating the police officers and personnel of that department like his own servants.

In a media statement he said that the Home Minister slapped a security officer on the face at a function being held in Hyderabad on the occasion of birthday of another minister T Srinivas Yadav.

He said that this incident shows the arrogance of the minister and the way he treat the police officers who take care of the security of not only common people but the public servants also.

He said that the minister slapped the police officer for delaying in handing over the bouquet. “Such a small issue could not be a reason to beat an officer under the full glare of the people. Such incidents would lower the dignity of the police officers in the eyes of the people,” he said.

The BJP leader said that mean behavior of some of the police officials has been giving opportunity to such humiliating incidents. Instead of following the rules, these officers have become stooges to the ministers and spoiled the dignity of the police department.

He said that some officers have made it a habit to respect the leaders who travel in cars with pink shawls on the dash boards. The Bharat Rashtra Samithi leaders have been given undue respect in police stations and in other offices of the department by the police officers to serve their own purposes.

Narayana Reddy said that the Home Minister who acts like a subservient to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao never bothers about his responsibilities and never cared about the security of the people.

Mahamood Ali has become a namesake minister and all his activities are carried out by the Chief Minister and few other important ministers of the state. The Home Minister even did not feel shame for such situation.

“I do not think even higher officials of police department consider him as the minister and as boss of their department. Even the minister is not seen in the important functions of the police department,” Narayana Reddy said.
