Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday declared that the Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) would continue to be a friendly party for the Bharata Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

“Inshallah Majlis aur BRS aage bhi milke kaam karenge (God willing, the MIM and BRS will continue to work together),” Rao said in the Assembly amidst cheering from the treasury benches. He was replying to a short discussion on state development in the last nine years.

The Chief Minister strongly refuted the allegations that he and MIM supremo Asaduddin Owaisi were the ‘B team’ of the BJP. The MIM dedicated itself for protecting Muslims rights and Owaisi will fight for their cause throughout his life without compromise, the CM.

“Poor Sharad Pawar labelled me as B team but he joined hands with Modi,” Rao quipped.

The Chief Minister defended enhancing the monetary benefit to schemes extended to Muslims stating that in a welfare state people from all sections should be treated equally. “The Dalit Bandhu is an exception because they are really downtrodden and needs uplift,” he said adding that financial assistance of one lakh as one-time grant will be given to Muslim youth.
