VVIPs set to throng Malabar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the NDA rally at Kasargod Municipal Stadium on Sunday.

KOZHIKODE: With less than two weeks remaining for the assembly polls, the Malabar districts are set to witness a large number of VVIP visits for election campaigns. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, JD(U) President  Nitish Kumar are among the top guns who will be addressing various election rallies in Malabar.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the NDA rally at Kasargod Municipal Stadium on Sunday. Minister of Law and Justice D. V. Sadananda Gowda and Minister of Health and Family Welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda will also take part in the programme starting at 10.30 am.

This is the second time he is addressing an election rally at Kasargod. Modi had visited the same venue two years back during the Lok Sabha polls. Rahul Gandhi who will start his two-day visit on May 11 will address a rally at Purameri in Kozhikode district and Uduma in Kasargod on May 12 before leaving for New Delhi via Mangalore International Airport.

JD (U) National President and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will address UDF campaigns at Kuthuparamba in Kannur, Vadakara in Kozhikode and Kalpetta in Wayanad on May 7.   Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani is likely to visit Sulthan Bathery in Wayanad, according to BJP sources.
