Hyderabad: The BRS, led by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, has been a safe haven for anti-Telangana forces such as the AIMIM led by Asaduddin Owaisi, who initially stood against statehood but has since teamed up with the ruling party, said Union minister Kishan Reddy on Thursday.

The Union minister claimed, while taking part in the BJP Foundation Day programme at the Dr Shyam Prasad Mookerjee Bhavan, that the BRS government was carrying out the policies of the erstwhile Nizam and that the people, “fed up with the nine years of autocratic, dictatorial, and corrupt rule,” had decided to overthrow the dispensation. Earlier, he participated in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's virtual address before addressing a meeting in the party office.

Speaking at the meeting, Kishan Reddy stated that the BRS government was employing the police to intimidate BJP leaders and workers, but Rao's efforts to weaken the party will fail because thousands of people are willing to make any sacrifice.

“The BJP came to power with the commitment of party activists and sacrifices. By facing extremism and terrorism, BJP strengthened its base,” he said. Responding to the detention of BJP state president Bandi Sanjay, Kishan Reddy remarked that the government had concocted false accusations against him and imprisoned him in order to intimidate and muzzle the voice of the BJP leader who has been exposing the BRS government's failings.

"We will fight the arrest of the state BJP president legally and politically. The arrest of our party leader will have no effect on the BJP leaders as they are ready to fight the misrule of the BRS government and people are behind the party in the endeavour,” he stated.

Kishan Reddy reacted sharply to the Warangal police notice issued to party MLA Etala Rajendar, alleging that a few police officials had become pawns of the BRS, adding, "We are public representatives, not slaves of the Kalvakuntla family or police officers."

Furthermore, the Union minister claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given Telangana and its development high priority. While the Prime Minister had never disregarded Chandrasekhar Rao, the CM and his son K.T.Rama Rao and daughter Kavitha were making disparaging remarks about the Prime Minister. He claimed that the CM had lowered dignity to its lowest by using unparliamentary words against BJP leaders who were exposing BRS misrule.

The Union minister said that members of the KCR family and BRS leaders were causing substantial losses to Singareni Collieries Company Limited and encroaching on their lands.

BJP former united AP president N. Indrasena Reddy, party Madhya Pradesh state in-charge P.Muralidhar Rao, national secretary Satya Kumar, MLAs Etala Rajendar, M. Raghunandan Rao, former MP Ravindra Naik, party state general secretary Dugyala Pradeep Kumar and others were present.
