VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh government has drawn flak for its failure to come up with any initiative to promote the Telugu film industry in the state.

Film critics said that though the previous TD regime had made some efforts to promote it by announcing some tax incentives and cash rewards, especially to encourage low budget films, the YSRC regime seems to be not showing much interest for the time being.

Film sources said that the film industry has been witnessing a lot of change with the adoption of high-end technology, ranging from shooting of the films to their screening in film theatres. As a result, several old and popular film production houses — Annapurna Studios, Suresh Productions and several film labs — have been shutting down some of their facilities as they turned out to be obsolete and not compatible in terms of usage of high-end technology being used to produce the films.
