Hyderabad: AICC general secretary and Telangana Congress affairs incharge R.C. Khuntia said Ms N. Padmavathi, the Congress candidate in Huzurnagar, was certain to win the upcoming byelection.

He said after its defeat in seven Lok Sabha seats, the TRS was scared in Huzurnagar and had sought CPI support. Speaking to the media on Thursday at Gandhi Bhavan, Mr Khuntia said that in the Huzurnagar byelection, all Congress leaders like Mr A. Revanth Reddy, Mr K, Jana Reddy, Mr Komatireddy Venkata Reddy and others, apart from TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy would campaign  there.

He alleged that in the Assembly elections, the TRS had defeated Congress candidate Padmavathi in the Kodada seat through a form of political vindictiveness. He said that in Huzurnagar, there was no candidate who could compete with the Congress and Ms Padmavathi would win with a huge majority.

BJP hypocritical on Gandhi
Mr Khuntia alleged that BJP leaders speak about Mahatma Gandhi and simultaneously construct a temple for his assassin Nathuram Godse in what can only be seen as an act of brazen hypocrisy.

He said that for publicity’s sake, the BJP uses Gandhi’s name and his spectacles but practice the most unGandhian forms of violence across the country from lynchings to the hollowing out of Universities to diluting laws and provisions that help the poor.
