ANANTAPUR: An embarrassing situation arose at Tadipathri and municipal chairman Prabhakar Reddy staged a protest at the office over the staff being absent and not attending a meeting he called on Monday.

In a controversial action, the staff including municipal commissioner accompanied MLA Pedda Reddy as he held an awareness campaign in the town. Prabhakar Reddy sat in protest at the municipal office since Monday and slept in the office. He had bath and breakfast there itself on Tuesday.

The municipal chairman said he called for a meeting with the staff around 11am to discuss about Urban Local Body issues. The municipal commissioner and the staff, instead of attending the meeting, chose to accompany the MLA in his campaign for Covid19 control in the town.

Prabhakar Reddy saluted the staff when they came in and attended to work at the municipal office in the afternoon on Monday. But, the municipal commissioner had submitted a leave letter and kept away from office.

“Though I have the power to take action against the staff, I am exercising restraint. But, show cause notices will be served on the municipal commissioner,” Reddy said on Tuesday.
