No political motive in shifting to CBI: Minister
The minister also denied reports that Pamani fertilizer unit' at Mannargudi would be shifted to some other place.
MANNARGUDI: The Tamil Nadu Food Minister Mr. R. Kamaraj categorically denied opposition parties’ charges that that there was some ‘ulterior political motive’ in the State Government’s decision to transfer the cases regarding some irregularities in temples and ‘Vigrahas (there is no concept of idol worship in Hinduism and deities are called Murthis or Vigrahas)’ to CBI.
He told newsmen at Mannargudi on Friday that the ‘Vigraha’ related cases pertained not only to Tamil Nadu, but some of the cases also pertained to outside the state and even abroad. So it was apt that a CBI inquiry alone could complete the task, he said.
To a question, Mr. Kamaraj said suitable efforts would be made to store the water in all the water bodies in Tamil Nadu in the wake of the excess flows into the Cauvery. However, as the season for ‘samba’ cultivation had not yet neared, water will be released only through the needy canals, he said.
The minister also denied reports that ‘Pamani fertilizer unit’ at Mannargudi would be shifted to some other place. In fact, the State Cooperatives minister has announced a grant of Rs 1.10 crore to improve the unit and efforts or on to commence fertlilzer production in the plant shorly, he added.
