KOZHIKODE: “The Congress cannot afford to indulge in another infighting when the BJP is making a strong bid to make inroads into Kerala,” according to Mr K. Muraleedharan MLA. He was referring to the controversies triggered by Mr  Sibi Mathews in his new book that has references to the ISRO espionage case. He told reporters at his  residence here on Saturday  that he wanted the controversy to remain as a personal grievance of the family of K. Karunakaran.

“The infighting will not help our party. The controversy had shattered my father and our family and let it remain as a personal grievance. He was asked to resign by the then prime minister P.V. Narasimha Rao. There are many reasons to suspect his role behind the controversy. Had my father completed the term, he would have entered national politics,” Mr Muraleedharan said. Referring to the Vizhinjam controversy, he said  the UDF government had not committed any mistake in the agreement and that Mr Oommen Chandy was right in his decision. The Congress had already welcomed  a judicial probe into  the  issue, he said.
