Congress groups like adjustments than organisational polls

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Congress groups have started bargaining for posts ahead of the organisational elections. The ‘I’ group wants to share the posts, including that of   KPCC president,  vice-presidents, general  secretaries, secretaries etc,  on a  40:40 basis and leave the rest to  those who do not belong to any group.  However, the ‘A’ group has opposed the plan.   Currently, the membership drive is on and the   final list will be released  within two months.

The  KPCC will decide on having organisational elections or a consensus process later.    The ‘A’ group feels that it  can claim more posts based on its strength if organisational elections are not held. “The ‘A’ group wants 50 percent of posts and not 40 as planned by the ‘I’ group.  Though prominent ‘I’ group MLAs like V. D. Satheesan and K. Muraleedharan do not fully agree with Mr  Ramesh Chennithala, they are united on sharing the posts,”   said a Congress leader.

Mr  Chennithala hopes that the majority of the 20 percent posts will also come to his group as only about five percent leaders belong to the old ‘A’ group.   “Finally the posts may be shared on a 50:30:20 basis,” said a  Congress MLA. However, the  AICC leadership wants to elect a KPCC president who is acceptable to all groups.
