HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao said that there was no question of compromising on the interests of Telangana and asked Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to present strong arguments before the union home ministry on January 12 with regard to pending issues in AP Reorganisation Act, 2014.

The Chief Minister held a review meeting to discuss the strategy to be adopted by Telangana in the wake of the Centre convening a meeting with chief secretaries of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on January 12 in Delhi to discuss pending bifurcation issues. Rao said that Andhra Pradesh was creating unnecessary disputes by raking up issues that were not in the bifurcation Act. AP was making irrelevant demands such as seeking a share in Singareni Collieries due to which several bifurcation issues were still pending even after seven years.

He asked the Chief Secretary to cooperate with AP in the talks only if the AP government expressed its commitment towards AP Reorganisation Act.

The Chief Minister stated that a final decision on attending the meeting would be taken based on the Covid conditions until January 12.
