Rajgopal fell for bait of Amit Shah: Revanth

Hyderabad: Responding to Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy’s announcement that he was resigning from the party and as MLA, TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy, who is in New Delhi, said the Congress was ready for the byelection of Munugode and would be holding an extended executive meeting in the town on August 5.
He alleged that Rajgopal Reddy’s decision was influenced by the sops in the form of contracts, bestowed by Union minister Amit Shah. “Rather fighting these forces, you have fallen for the lure presented by Modi and Amit Shah,” he said.
Meanwhile former minister K. Jana Reddy who attended the high-level meeting in Delhi chaired by AICC general secretary K.C. Venugopal on Monday was given the responsibility of choosing the probable candidate for the party for byelection.
Elsewhere, while the BJP welcomed Rajgopal Reddy’s resignation, the TRS maintained complete silence. TRS members said they would speak after his resignation from the Assembly was accepted and he joined the BJP.
Meanwhile, senior BJP leader Gudur Narayana Reddy said that Rajagopal Reddy would join the BJP to strengthen the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Terming it a long-awaited event, Narayana Reddy said the move would realign politics in favour of the BJP. He said that those who were yet to make up their mind over joining the BJP would soon follow suit.
He said that the Congress was losing its base as the “mother, son and daughter (Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi)” have failed to rejuvenate the ailing party. He said that dynastic politics would not work anymore in the country.
“People will not accept the fourth generation leaders from one family, and the pitiful status of the Congress has been reflecting this fact. Congress can no more depend on the credit of bringing independence. The party has to reinvent itself,” he said.
He said that Rajgopal Reddy’s induction into the BJP’s fold would attract youngsters, who are still holding a neutral position, to join the party and expand its base in the state.
He said that the Munugodu bypoll would be a repeat of the Huzurabad show. “It will lead to all Assembly constituencies coming to the BJP,” he said.
