HYDERABAD: In a big blow to the TRS, especially MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha, about 500 party activists in Bodhan Assembly constituency joined the BJP at Yadadri on Tuesday in presence of Union minister Gajendra Shekhawat and state party unit president Bandi Sanjay.

Kavitha’s in-laws hail from Pothangal in Navipet mandal in Bodhan Assembly constituency, and she considers herself a daughter in law of the district.

The activists were led by V. Mohan Reddy, party leader and TS Rice Millers Association general secretary. He is said to have a strong following in Bodhan Assembly constituency and joined the TRS during the 2018 Assembly elections.

He was reportedly disappointed with Bodhan MLA Shakil Amer and the party high command. The party did not respond to him and did not react to the party cadre shifting loyalties.

Noted advocate Rachana Reddy and Srikanth of Achampet have also joined the BJP on Tuesday. Union minister Shekhawat and Bandi Sanjay welcomed them into the party fold.
