Bengaluru: Coming down hard on the Modi government for the recent CBSE paper leak,   national spokesman for the Congress, Prof. MV Rajeev Gowda  (right) claimed here on Monday that it was an example of its ineptness and inefficiency and demanded the sacking of Minister of Human Resource Development. Prakash Javadekar, and CBSE chairperson, Anita Karwal.

Speaking to reporters here, he said, ""If you want a clear example of how efficient and inept the Modi government is, it is the CBSE exam leak.  Let it demonstrate its sincere intent by sacking the HRD Minister and CBSE chairperson. Let it finally show that it will pay attention to the pain of lakhs of students and their families."

Claiming that Mr Javadekar was not concerned about his ministry, he regretted that instead of addressing the urgent challenge that the HRD sector was facing, he was "playing politics around the country."

As for Ms Karwal, the Congress leader claimed she spent more time marketing her book on mountaineering than on her duties. Ms. Karwal, a Gujarat cadre IAS officer, took over as the CBSE chairperson on August 31, last year.  "Shirking her responsibility to the students of this country, she is following in the footsteps of the HRD Minister," he added with disdain. Recalling the Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh and the SSC leak, Mr Gowda claimed the  Modi government had failed to take education seriously and the country's youth was paying the price. He also maintained that the government was trying to fool the people with the arrests of three people and suspension of several officials for the leaking of the CBSE question papers of the Class 12 Economics paper of March 26 and of the Class 10 Mathematics paper of March 28 on social media hours before the exams were scheduled to begin. While deploring the confusion around the re-exams, he blamed the BJP's neglect of education and its "disastrous policies" for the leak.
