Hyderabad: While terming the protests of the BRS against the rise in LPG cylinder prices as a farce, Congress leaders questioned why the state government was not offering subsidy on the lines of Congress-ruled states to reduce the burden on households.

City Congress activists as part of Haath se Haath jodo yatra in Somajiguda division questioned the sincerity of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao in addressing the issue of LPG price rise.

They pointed out that the Congress-ruled states were offering close to half the amount as subsidy, thereby reducing the burden on women. The leaders felt that the BJP would not come to power at the Centre in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as women would ensure its defeat.
