Hyderabad: Finance minister T. Harish Rao on Thursday called on people of Dubbak constituency to elect BRS candidate Kotha Prabhakar Reddy in the coming elections.

In an emotional appeal to party workers and the locals, Rao said he never imagined that there would be a day when he would be campaigning in Dubbak without Solipeta Ramalinga Reddy, the BRS leader and MLA who passed away, and now in the absence of Prabhakar Reddy, who is recovering after suffering a knife attack on October 30.

Addressing a meeting of BRS workers in Dubbak, Rao said that some people were deliberately trying to stoke anger among people, which was highly reprehensible.

“I called on Prabhakar this morning at the hospital. He is still in the ICU and unable to speak much. He is a man who never hurt anyone and it is really sad to see someone like him becoming the target of hatred. It is even more terrible that some political leaders are trivializing the attack,” he said.

It is now the responsibility of every BRS worker to ensure a thumping win for Prabhakar Reddy. People of Dubbak now say they made a mistake in the by-poll by electing BJP candidate. This time we will not make the same mistake, he said.

Harish Rao also targeted Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and A Revanth Reddy for their comments on Kaleshwaram project calling their allegations without merit.

Earlier in the day, Rao campaigned in Malkajgiri for BRS candidate Marri Rajasekhar Reddy and said the contest in the constituency was between a man who works sincerely for the people and another who left the party for selfish reasons. Referring to Mynampally Hanumantha Rao, who is contesting on a Congress ticket, after rejecting BRS nomination for the seat, Harish Rao said Mynampally quit because he demanded two tickets but now, he and his son will be defeated in Medak and in Malkajgiri.

“Though he lost in the Lok Sabha elections, Rajasekhar Reddy has continued working for the people and serving them. Ensure his victory and I will adopt Malkajgiri and ensure its all-round development,” he said.
