VIJAYAWADA: Defending the CID police serving notices on Telugu Desam leader Chintakayala Vijay for posting indecent posts against women on ITDP website, Social Welfare Minister Merugu Nagarjuna said on Sunday the TD was trying to defame the YSRC government.

Addressing the media at the party’s central office here on Sunday, Nagarjuna alleged that Vijay acted at the behest of TD chief Chandrababu Naidu and his son Lokesh. Housing minister Jogi Ramesh held Naidu and Lokesh responsible for the insult they did on women and sought action against Vijay.

Nagarjuna said Vijay made several tweets denigrating women. The CID police acted as per law in serving notices in response to his questionable actions, he said.

At another media meet, housing minister Jogi Ramesh flayed the TD and its “friendly media” for defending Vijay who posted obscene comments against women on the ITDP website.

Ramesh asked the TD-friendly media, “How long will you continue to abet anarchy? You too have families and women. If you don’t stop encouraging these anti-socials, it will boomerang on you.”

He said chief minister Jagan is giving priority to women by offering 50 per cent reservation in all fields and raising their social status. “But Naidu, Lokesh and other TD leaders are degrading women.” He demanded that Naidu should take the responsibility for the insult to women including the CM’s wife.
