Nizamabad: Kalvakuntla siblings on Monday blew the TRS poll bugle for 2019 by tearing into Congress and TD in a public meeting in Nizamabad, considered to be the bastion of TRS since its inception in 2001.

IT Minister K.T.Rama Rao and Nizamabad MP K.Kavitha, the only son and daughter of TRS Chief and Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao, gave enough hints that they would be the star campaigners for TRS in the 2019 elections. The brother and sister sharing the public meeting dais was the cynosure of all eyes.

Though both were in the town to attend official programmes, the public meeting was held later which was aimed to launch the TRS poll campaign in North Telangana districts which remain as the party's stronghold since 2014. Contrary to the expectations of TRS leaders and cadre that party chief K.Chandrasekhar Rao will blow the poll bugle from Nalgonda this month, which is considered to be the bastion of Congress, the party in its strategic move opted for Nizamabad and projected Kalvakuntla siblings to lead the party's campaign for 2019.

In 2014, KCR was the lone star campaigner touring 104 out of 119 constituencies. But due to age factor, Rao now wants to address election meetings in 2019 using ‘3D hologram technology’ which was used by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for first time during 2014 elections, to address people live through giant screens. Rao and Kavitha  explained developmental and welfare activities of the TRS Government and targeted political opponents at the meeting.

Rama Rao criticised  former Prime Ministers Jawahar Lal Nehru, Rajiv Gandhi and Indira Gandhi for under development in the country, especially in Telangana. He criticised AICC president Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders for comments against the TRS Government.
