Raipur: AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Monday pledged to provide LPG cylinder at Rs 500 and free electricity up to 200 units if Congress retained power in Chhattisgarh in the November assembly elections.

Addressing a public meeting at Khairagarh under Rajnandgaon district in Chhattisgarh, Ms Gandhi said that Congress had fulfilled all the promises made for Chhattisgarh in the 2018 assembly elections.

She said that the Congress would provide LPG at subsidised rates, free electricity up to 200 units, waive loans taken by the women self-help groups to start business ventures and provide interest free loans to them if the party returned to power in the state in the ensuing assembly elections.

She heaped praises on the Bhupesh Baghel government saying that it removed miseries of people caused by the ‘wrong’ policies of the Union government by undertaking various welfare measures for them.

Meanwhile, chief minister Bhupesh Baghel on Monday filed his nomination from his traditional Patan assembly constituency in Durg district in the state.

He posted a photograph of his wife putting ‘tilak’ on his forehead at his residence in Bhilai before going in a procession to file nomination at Durg, in his X account.

“I will uphold the self-respect of Chhattisgarhiya and always remain dedicated to serving you (people)”, he said in a social media post.

Mr Baghel has been elected five times from the seat- in 1993, 1998, 2003, 2013 and 2018.

He lost to BJP’s Vijay Baghel, currently a Lok Sabha member, in the seat in 2008 assembly elections.

Mr Baghel is now pitted against the BJP MP, his nephew, in the seat in the November polls.

Chhattisgarh is going to assembly polls in two phases on November seven and November 17.
