HYDERABAD: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Monday issued a whip to its Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members to be present in Parliament and vote against a Bill to replace the ordinance on Delhi services.

“All the MPs of BRS are requested to vote against the bill to replace the Ordinance on Delhi Services, any time brought before the House,” the party said in a statement. The BRS has seven members in the Rajya Sabha and nine in the Lok Sabha. They all have been asked to be present in the House from July 31 to August 4 and till the voting on the bill is over, the statement added.

The Government of NCT of Delhi (Amendment) Ordinance aims to take away the control over services from the Delhi government.

It may be recalled that the BRS issued a whip to all its MPs on July 26 for the first time asking them to remain present in Parliament for three days without fail, until the voting on the Delhi Services Bill is completed. However, the bill was not introduced in Parliament last week.

AAP chief and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal met Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao in Hyderabad on May 27 to seek BRS support against the ordinance brought in by the Centre on the Delhi services matter. Rao extended support to AAP government in Delhi and announced that BRS will vote against the Bill whenever it comes up for voting.
