Police SI Recruitment Scam: CBI Arrests Another Accused, Points to Inter-State Racket
The CBI continues to scrutinise documents, digital records and financial transactions linked to the case. Officials have not ruled out further arrests as the investigation progresses.
Bhubaneswar: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has intensified its probe into the Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment examination scam with the arrest of another accused, indicating a widening conspiracy and possible inter-state links in the case.
According to official sources, the agency has arrested Neetu Arora from outside Odisha, suggesting that the alleged manipulation of the Police SI examination was not confined to the state but involved a broader network operating across state borders. The accused was taken into custody after preliminary evidence pointed to her alleged role in the recruitment racket.
With the latest arrest, the CBI is stepping up efforts to dismantle the network behind the examination irregularities and to identify all individuals involved in the alleged conspiracy. Investigators are focusing on tracing financial transactions, identifying beneficiaries, and establishing the chain of intermediaries who facilitated the manipulation of the recruitment process.
Meanwhile, the two-day remand of middlemen Muna Mohanty and Abhimanyu Dora, who were earlier taken into CBI custody for questioning, has concluded. During the custodial interrogation, officials reportedly questioned the duo extensively to uncover money trails, gather details on the modus operandi, and identify key players involved in the scam.
The agency has also taken the alleged mastermind, Srikant Prusty, along with Soumya Priyadarshini, on remand as part of the same investigation. Sources said the interrogations have yielded crucial inputs related to the alleged question paper leak, the role of multiple intermediaries, and the manner in which candidates were reportedly influenced during the examination process.
