Pahalgam terror attack: NIA team questions slain Odisha tourist’s wife
National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrived in Balasore and questioned the wife of Prashant Satpathy
Bhubaneswar: In a key development in the Pahalgam terror attack probe, a team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrived in Balasore on Saturday and questioned the wife of Prashant Satpathy, an Odisha tourist who was among those 28 killed in the deadly assault.
Official sources confirmed that a three-member NIA team conducted a detailed inquiry with Priyadarshini, Prashant’s wife, who was present at the scene when the attack took place. Investigators hoped her testimony will provide crucial information to help piece together the events leading up to the tragedy.
Prashant Satpathy’s untimely death has left his family and community in profound shock. The brutal attack in Pahalgam drew nationwide outrage, prompting authorities to intensify efforts to track down those responsible.
According to NIA officials, speaking with family members and close associates of victims forms an essential part of the investigation. These interactions may uncover any potential threats, suspicious communications, or unusual incidents prior to the attack.
Prashant’s mother, deeply grieving the loss of her son, shared, “The NIA officials asked my daughter-in-law about the terror attack. She was there when my son was shot.”
A relative added, “It’s an irreparable loss for us. Prashant was the backbone of the family. The officials gathered details about the incident.”
A resident of Ishani village in Balasore district, Prashant was enjoying the scenic beauty of the region with his wife and eight-year-old son when he was struck by a bullet during the sudden assault by militants on April 22.
“The NIA’s visit to Balasore shows the gravity of the case and the Union government’s determination to bring those behind the heinous act to justice. Such investigations lead to gathering vital inputs which will help get a complete view of the ghastly act,” a senior police official said.
