Out On Bail, Partha Chatterjee Reinstated In Assembly Committees By TMC
The development came more than two months after Chatterjee was released on bail by the Alipore court on bail in the School Service Commission jobs scam after spending more than three years behind bars: Reports
KOLKATA: Months ahead of the Assembly elections in West Bengal, Trinamul Congress heavyweight Partha Chatterjee made a comeback with the party nominating him to several Assembly committees.
According to sources, the former minister has been made a member of the library committee and has been included in the standing committees on housing, fire and emergency services and disaster management departments on the eve of the Budget Session.
The development came more than two months after Chatterjee was released on bail by the Alipore court on bail in the School Service Commission jobs scam after spending more than three years behind bars. He had been arrested along with his friend Arpita Mukherjee following the recovery of cash in crores from Arpita’s flat by the Enforcement Directorate in July of 2022.
Later, the Behala MLA, once the Trinamul secretary-general and a trusted lieutenant of party supremo and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, wrote an open letter to the voters of his constituency pleading for his innocence and clean image.
