Orry Appears Before Mumbai Police in Rs 252-Crore Drug Case
Mumbai ANC calls social-media personality for questioning in one of Maharashtra’s biggest mephedrone cases; no charges filed yet.
Bollywood socialite and influencer Orhan Awatramani, popularly known as Orry, on Wednesday appeared before Mumbai Police to record his statement in connection with a massive drug seizure case, an official said.
Orry arrived at the Ghatkopar unit of the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) around 1:30 pm. He was initially asked to visit the ANC office last Thursday but had sought an extension, citing prior commitments, which the police granted.
According to officials, Orry’s name surfaced during the interrogation of Mohammad Salim Mohammad Suhail Shaikh — also known as “Lavish” — a key accused in a Rs 252-crore mephedrone seizure. Shaikh allegedly claimed that he organised high-profile rave parties in India and abroad attended by certain film and fashion celebrities, a politician, and a relative of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim. Orry was named among those present at these parties.
The case traces back to 2024, when the ANC uncovered a large-scale narcotics manufacturing network operating from a factory in Sangli district. Over 120 kilograms of mephedrone, valued at approximately Rs 252 crore, were seized, exposing what police described as an interstate drug syndicate. Shaikh, a close aide of Salim Dola who oversaw mephedrone production and distribution across India, was deported from Dubai in late 2025 and subsequently arrested.
Authorities clarified that a summons is a procedural step to verify statements and does not imply guilt. Orry was questioned about the parties mentioned in Shaikh’s statements, his association with others under investigation, and any knowledge of the broader narcotics network. No charges have been filed against him at this stage.
Legal experts urged the public not to jump to conclusions, noting that questioning public figures is common in complex investigations. The Rs 252-crore case continues to expand, with ANC exploring links to money laundering, interstate trafficking, and other suspects. Orry’s appearance marks another step in an ongoing investigation that remains under scrutiny.
