Odisha: President Droupadi Murmu To Visit Maa Kandhuni Devi Temple In Odisha On August 4

The President will offer prayers at the temple, located in T. Gobindapur panchayat under Sanakhemundi block. Arrangements are also being made for her lunch during the visit, official sources said.

With less than a week remaining, the Ganjam district administration has intensified efforts to ensure a smooth and dignified visit. Extensive cleaning of the temple premises is underway, while approach roads are being repaired and basic infrastructure upgraded.

As part of the preparations, the Berhampur Sub-Collector, in coordination with local officials and residents, has launched a special cleanliness drive under the Swachh Bharat Mission to spruce up the temple complex and surrounding areas.

Senior district officials, including the Collector and Superintendent of Police (SP), have conducted on-site inspections to review the progress of the arrangements. All departments concerned have been directed to complete the necessary works well ahead of the President's arrival.

The electricity department is inspecting power infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the visit, while the police have strengthened security measures and are closely monitoring the area to ensure a safe and incident-free programme.

News of the President's proposed visit has generated enthusiasm among local residents, temple committee members and priests, who are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the nation's First Citizen.

The visit is expected to shine a national spotlight on the historic Maa Kandhuni Devi Temple and is being viewed as a matter of pride for the people of Ganjam district.
