BHUBANESWAR: In a gesture that underlined political civility and respect, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday visited the residence of Leader of Opposition (LoP) Naveen Patnaik at his residence ‘Naveen Niwas’, Bhubaneswar.

During the meeting, CM Majhi enquired about the former Chief Minister’s health and general well-being. Patnaik, the BJD president, had recently returned home after undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city. The two leaders interacted for nearly 10–15 minutes, with Majhi assuring all possible cooperation for Patnaik’s recovery and comfort.

Patnaik was earlier admitted to a private hospital on August 17 following complaints of dehydration. He was discharged on Wednesday after responding well to treatment.

During his hospitalisation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with several dignitaries, conveyed wishes for his speedy recovery. Senior state leaders, including health minister Mukesh Mahaling, law minister Prithiviraj Harichandan, and Odisha Congress president Bhakta Charan Das, also visited him. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge had publicly expressed concern and extended good wishes.

Since his return to Naveen Niwas, Patnaik has been receiving a steady stream of visitors cutting across political lines. Supporters, well-wishers, and party members have been calling on him to express solidarity and pray for his quick recovery, reflecting the wide respect he continues to command in Odisha’s political landscape.

It may be recalled that on June 22, Patnaik underwent a medical procedure for cervical arthritis under the supervision of his personal physician, Dr Ramakant Panda. The former CM’s health has remained a matter of public concern ever since, with leaders and citizens alike keenly following updates about his condition.
