Odisha CM Launches 24 Industrial Projects Worth Rs 1.15 Lakh Crore, 36,000 Jobs In Pipeline

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 24 industrial projects, attracting investments worth Rs 1,15,000 crore and promising to create 36,000 job opportunities across the state.

Speaking at a special event here, the Chief Minister flagged off four major projects, including Tata Steel Limited’s ambitious 5 MTPA integrated steel plant expansion at Kalinga Nagar, set to invest Rs 47,599 crore and create 4,625 jobs. Other inaugurated ventures include JSL Group’s petroleum and solar power project (Rs 470 crore), Jatia Steel Limited’s 0.75 MTPA TMT Rebar-cum-Wire Rod Mill (Rs 220 crore), and Abis Exports India’s poultry feed plant (Rs 161.57 crore).

The day also saw the groundbreaking for 20 other industrial projects, headlined by Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited’s 8.52 MTPA Steel Plant expansion, which alone accounts for Rs 61,769 crore in investment and is poised to generate 14,000 direct jobs.

In a notable development, several international companies are bringing foreign direct investment into Odisha. TYK Ceramics India Pvt Ltd from Japan will invest Rs 57 crore in manufacturing advanced refractory products. German firm Almamet India Private Limited is setting up a magnesium granules and calcium carbide unit (Rs 50.6 crore), while Neo Industries Metal Processing Pvt Ltd (USA) is putting Rs 72 crore into a chrome plating and steel finishing facility. UK-based Corewire Surface Technology Pvt Ltd and Lechler India Pvt Ltd (Germany) are also investing in metallurgical and precision engineering ventures.

“These 24 projects will not only usher in foreign capital and advanced technology but also foster MSME partnerships, downstream industries, and large-scale employment opportunities,” an official said, highlighting Odisha’s growing reputation as a premier industrial investment hub.

Addressing the gathering, CM Majhi said, “Today marks a historic turning point for Odisha. By launching projects worth Rs 1.15 lakh crore, we’re not just laying foundations — we’re shaping the future. This progress ensures 36,000 employment avenues, enabling our youth to build their dreams on their own soil.”

The event drew a host of industry leaders and dignitaries, including Industries minister Sampad Chandra Swain, textiles and handlooms minister Pradeep Balsamant, and Jajpur MP Rabindra Narayan Behera.
