BHOPAL: Number two in the hierarchy of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Dattatreya Hosabale, who holds the post of Sar Karyavah in the organization, on Wednesday said that there is no legal obligation for registration of the RSS.

He said that the sangh is part of the society and there are many organizations which are not registered.

Talking to the reporters on the occasion of the conclusion of the three-day annual meeting of the Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Mandal (All India Executive Committee) of the RSS at Indore, he said that the organization is functioning as per the Constitution of India and the law.

There is no legal obligation for registration of the RSS, Mr. Hosabale said.

Referring to criticism of the ideology of the RSS by the left, he said that his organization does not need validation of the left.

“Had we sought validation of the left for our ideology, then we would have lost our existence by now”, he said and added that the RSS needs support of the society.

Reiterating the stand of the RSS on the reservation, he said that the reservation should continue as long as the socially and educationally backward classes do not get equal opportunities.

The benefits of the reservation should reach the deserving people, he said.

He however remarked that the reservation should be based on social and historical situations, not for politics.

Regarding the talks on regime change, he said that it is not in the interest of the country to spread unrest in the society and resort to violence to bring change.

He suspected a conspiracy behind the attempts to instigate the youth and said that the government should reach out to the youth to understand their issues and resolve them.

Highlighting expansion of the RSS, he said that the number of sakhas in West Bengal have increased by 150 times.

Earlier, the sang was facing stiff resistance to open sakhas in West Bengal.

Similarly, in Kerala, RSS has opened its sakhass in every village, he claimed.

He said that RSS workers were killed in Tripura and Assam but the organization continued its activities in these two states.

According to him, two sakahas have also been opened in Mizoram, while the sangh has started opening its sakhas in Ladakh also.

He said that the RSS opened 10,241 new sakhas in the centenary year of the organization, celebrated between Vijayadasami in 2025 to Vijayadasami in 2026, taking the total functional sakhas in the country to 99,423.

Mr. Hosabale described the controversy, created over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) for electoral rolls, as unnecessary, calling it a routine affair to review the electoral rolls.

He said that the deleted 13 crore names from electoral rolls are already dead.

“Why should the electoral roll revision be politicized”, he wondered.

The three-day meeting, chaired by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, reviewed centenary year programmes, Gen Z issue, deliberation and planning on sakha expansion and social awakening.
