Bhubaneswar, Oct. 20: DJ vehicles will not be allowed in Durga Puja idol immersion processions in Bhubaneswar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Saravana Vivek M said on Tuesday, warning that violations would invite criminal action.

The restrictions have been imposed to ensure that the immersion processions conclude peacefully without disrupting law and order, the DCP said. He also reminded organisers that playing loud music after 10 pm is prohibited under the applicable Supreme Court guidelines.

As many as 48 platoons of police personnel will be deployed across the city to manage crowds, regulate processions and maintain law and order during the immersion ceremonies on Thursday.

The DCP warned that puja organisers and others violating the prescribed guidelines would face legal action. He urged all puja committees to comply with the restrictions and cooperate with the police to ensure the smooth conduct of the processions.

Meanwhile, the administration has made arrangements for idol immersion at six temporary ponds. Three of these are located along the Kuakhai River and another along the Daya River. The designated sites are intended to facilitate the orderly conduct of immersion rituals and ensure the smooth movement of processions.

Authorities have also granted permission for Ravan Dahan programmes at nine locations across Bhubaneswar.
