Navy Chief Tripathi in Myanmar for Maritime Talks
Myanmar has also participated in Indian Navy-led engagements such as the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium, MILAN, International Fleet Review and Goa Maritime Conclave.
New Delhi: Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi is on a four-day official visit to Myanmar to strengthen operational cooperation and explore new areas of collaboration in maritime security.
During the visit, he will hold bilateral discussions with General Ye Win Oo, Commander-in-Chief of Myanmar Armed Forces, defence minister General U Htun Aung and Admiral Htein Win, Commander-in-Chief of the Myanmar Navy, along with other senior officials.
The interactions are aimed at reviewing ongoing maritime cooperation, enhancing operational linkages and identifying new avenues for collaboration between the two navies.
The itinerary includes visits to Myanmar Navy’s Central Naval Command, Naval Training Command and No. 1 Fleet, and laying a wreath at the Armed Forces Fallen Heroes’ War Memorial. Discussions will focus on maritime security, capacity building, capability enhancement and training.
The Indian Navy and Myanmar Navy maintain regular engagement through defence cooperation meetings, staff talks, training exchanges and operational interactions, including the India-Myanmar Naval Exercise (IMNEX) and Indo-Myanmar Coordinated Patrol (IMCOR).
Myanmar has also participated in Indian Navy-led engagements such as the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium, MILAN, International Fleet Review and Goa Maritime Conclave.
“The visit by the Chief of the Naval Staff reaffirms the longstanding India - Myanmar bonds of friendship, anchored on mutual respect, trust and a shared commitment for Maritime Security and Stability in the Indian Ocean Region,” the Indian Navy said.
