Bhopal: A viral video showed the husband of a BJP councillor in Satna district in Madhya Pradesh, daring a woman who had accused him of rape to lodge a complaint with the police. It was not clear when the video was filmed and became public on Sunday.
The woman on December submitted a written complaint to the office of Satna district superintendent of police alleging that Ashok Singh, husband of the BJP councillor, raped her at knife point and recorded the act.
The complaint alleged that Singh repeatedly raped her and threatened her to eliminate her whenever she resisted his rape attempts, according to the police.
In the video that went viral on social media on December 26, Singh was heard abusing her. When she threatened to go to the police to file a complaint against him, he was heard saying, “Go wherever you like. Nothing will happen to me”.
The woman then was heard telling the man that he raped her. Singh was heard replying that he did not. She was also heard warning him that she would post the video on social media. Singh was heard replying to her that no one can harm him.
A case was registered against Singh for using criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty, sexual harassment, obscene acts, and aggravated criminal intimidation under the BNS after the video surfaced, police said. The accused was arrested late on Saturday night, police said.
