MP/ Twisha death: CBI team recreates crime with 80-kg dummy of model
Dummy used to verify events as investigators examine forensic evidence.
Bhopal: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), investigating the unnatural death of model and actor Twisha Sharma at her marital residence here on May 12, on Monday, recreated the scene at the spot where she allegedly died by suicide.
The team used a dummy of the deceased model, weighing 80 kg, to match the body weight of Twisha, to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to her death, as described by the accused — her mother-in-law Giribala Singh, a retired judge, and her husband Samarth, a practicing lawyer — and the witnesses, sources said.
The recreation of the scene will help ascertain if the findings are consistent with the physical layout of the scene and other evidence gathering during the probe, sources said.
Meanwhile, the gym belt, which 33-year-old Twisha allegedly used, has become a key tool in the investigation into the high-profile case, with questions being raised why it was not handed over to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhopal, where the autopsy was conducted, along with the body.
The ligature belt was handed over to the forensic doctors of the AIIMS, Bhopal, by the police two days after the postmortem.
Twisha’s family members have termed it a serious lapse by the police while raising doubts over the investigation by the police. The CBI team would summon the police officer concerned for questioning on the matter, sources said.
Twisha was found dead, allegedly by suicide in her marital home in Katara Hills here on May 12 barely less than six months after her marriage. The Noida native had visited a salon for scalp massage and had an evening walk hours before her death.
