New Growth Model in Telangana, Says Rahul
The Congress leader said the survey was not conducted in a closed room by the bureaucracy, but it was shaped by Dalits, tribals, the people and the non-government organisations (NGOs)
Bhopal: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday said the Congress government in Telangana had created a new model of development by conducting a caste-based socio-economic survey, and termed it a historic achievement.
“This is a new model of development. With this, we have started a new kind of partnership politics in Telangana,” Gandhi said.
Gandhi while addressing, virtually, the two-day training camp for Congress MLAs of Madhya Pradesh that commenced in Mandu in Dhar district on Monday, said: “This is the first time in the country that a caste-based socio-economic survey has been conducted (in Telangana). We have done a socio-economic X-ray of Telangana”.
The Congress leader said the survey was not conducted in a closed room by the bureaucracy, but it was shaped by Dalits, tribals, the people and the non-government organisations (NGOs).
Socio-economic data of Telangana can be shared with anyone who wanted it after the statistics are compiled, he added. As soon as the data is gathered, demand for breaching the 50 per cent limit on reservations will be made, he said.
He accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of being scared of conducting caste-based census in the country. He also charged the BJP with promoting an environment of hatred in the country by pitting Hindus against Muslims, one tribe against another tribe in Manipur, and Jat against non-Jat in Haryana.
The Congress leader also said he stood by his assertion that there was vote theft in Maharashtra in the last Assembly polls.
