MP/ Old Age Home Sealed After Boy Found Beating Inmates
An FIR was filed against the operator of the illegally-run old age home, the officer said.
Bhopal: An ‘illegally-run’ old age home in Indore has been sealed after a video showing a 14-year-old boy beating the elderly inmates in the facility with a stick came to the fore.
All the 31 inmates of the facility, Premashray Old Age Home, have been shifted to the registered institutions, and two of them who were found to be sick were admitted to a hospital for treatment, local sub-divisional magistrate Nidhi Verma said.
An FIR was filed against the operator of the illegally-run old age home, the officer said.
A probe by the local administration has revealed that the boy who was captured in the video assaulting two elderly women in the old age home was staying there without any legal authority.
He was handed over to the child welfare committee (CWC) for his rehabilitation.
According to the old age home operator Neelam Dubey, the boy was mentally distressed since he lost his mother five months ago to a malignant brain tumor.
He was hit on his head with a tub by one of the inmates on Wednesday, leading him to attack those around.
An official probe has found that the old age home started in a municipal corporation building without any permission in 2022.
