MP Minister's Exposure of Corruption in Own Govt Ends in Fiasco
The minister was earlier in the news when her brother was arrested in a ganja trafficking case in the district.
Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh minister Pratima Bagri has suffered acute embarrassment when her move to expose corruption in construction of a road in her Assembly constituency in Satna district in Madhya Pradesh ended in a fiasco.
During an inspection of a newly renovated road in Bodhi-Mangari area under Kothi Tehsil in the district recently, minister of state for urban development and housing Ms. Bagri was flabbergasted when she found the asphalt layer peeling off easily with a push from her foot and sandal.
The tehsil falls under her Assembly constituency, Raigaon.
A video in which she was seen pushing the asphalt layer with her sandal easily and then scolding the Public Works Department (PWD) engineer on the spot for the bad quality of work, has gone viral on social media, causing embarrassment to the state government.
She was heard in the video directing the officials to take immediate action in the matter and initiate the process to cancel the contract awarded to the contractor for the poor quality work.
She was also heard in the clip ordering the officials to blacklist the contractor.
It was however later revealed that the state PWD department has already made an assessment and declared the renovated road to be of low quality.
The disclosure has left the minister red-faced.
The minister was earlier in the news when her brother was arrested in a ganja trafficking case in the district.
She had however disowned her brother, saying that she had nothing to do with her brother.
“Let the law take its own course. Police will conduct investigation into the matter impartially”, she had earlier said.
