MP: Instagram Influencer Stirs Social Media Row with Comment, Terrorism has No Religion
MP tourism says no links with Instagram influencer Tanya Mittal
Bhopal: A recent comment by Instagram influencer Tanya Mittal that terrorism has no religion has stirred a row on social media leading Madhya Pradesh tourism department issuing a clarification saying that she is not associated with it in any capacity.
Ms. Mittal has made the comment while narrating how local Kashmiris helped several tourists visiting Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, escape the terrorist attack recently in which 28 people were killed.
“Saying anything on this issue is critical and sensitive for me. In the media there is talk of terrorists and terrorism. I, on the other hand, think terrorism has no religion”, she said.
Recounting how her friends, visiting Pahalgam on the fateful day, were escorted to Srinagar by local Kashmiris, she said, “Terrorism has no religion. India has only one religion, that is Bhartia. We are all Indians and we are together in this”.
She was heavily trolled on social media for her comment and many have even given a call to boycott her.
Some of them have claimed that she was making content for Madhya Pradesh tourism as an ambassador.
Following this, Madhya Pradesh tourism department came out with a clarification saying that “Please note that Ms. Tanya Mittal is not associated with MP Tourism in any capacity”.
Meanwhile, at least three people in various parts of the state were arrested for making offensive comments on the Pahalgam terrorist attack on social media.
