MP Cops Barred From Making Reels In Uniform, Feeding Data To AI Tools

A 24-point set of social media use guidelines issued by Madhya Pradesh director general of police (DGP) Kailash Makwana has barred the cops from making reels in uniform, on or off duty, while warning of disciplinary action for violation of the directive.

The new rules specifically addressed the growing trend of use of AI among the police personnel.

The guidelines prohibited the police personnel from scanning, screenshotting or sharing any sensitive or confidential documents or information on social media or on any AI tools such as ChatGpt, Gemini etc.

The new rules have directed the police personnel not to reveal the nature of sensitive assignments or their locations online.

The cops have been asked to keep location and geo-tagging options switched off while using social media at ‘sensitive’ workplaces.

The guidelines have advised the police personnel to be cautious while sharing information about arrests, raids and criminal investigations.

The cops have been advised to share only essential facts and not disclose details on the investigative process.

The police personnel have also been directed not to upload posts expressing their personal views on government policies and schemes on social media through their accounts or make any comment on religious or political matters on the public platform.

The police personnel have also been barred from using department-issued CUG SIM cards to create social media accounts.

The new rules have also asked the cops to inform the department about their earnings as social media influencers and restrained them from using government vehicles, offices, residences, uniforms and other official resources for their publicity.
