Posters Claiming MP is Missing Appear in Madhya Pradesh
The posters declaring the minister missing were found at different places in the state as Congress has intensified its stir demanding his removal from the ministry
BHOPAL: A day after Madhya Pradesh minister Vijay Shah offered an unqualified apology for his recent remarks targeting Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, posters declaring him missing appeared at different places in the state on Saturday. The posters announced rewards for information on the ‘missing mantri’ in the ‘interest of governance’.
The posters declaring the minister missing were found at different places in the state as Congress has intensified its stir demanding his removal from the ministry. “We have offered `11,000 for information on the minister,” Vivek Khandelwal, Indore district unit of the Sewa Dal of the Congress, said.
A special investigation team (SIT) constituted at the direction of the Supreme Court is currently probing the minister’s controversial remarks. The apex court has directed the SIT to give its status report by May 28.
Khandelwal said the minister has shunned public appearance ever since his ‘sister of terrorists’ remarks, made at a function in Mhow in Indore district on May 11, triggered public outrage, leading the Madhya Pradesh High Court to issue a directive to the Director General of Police (DGP) to file an FIR against him.
The minister has moved the Supreme Court challenging the High Court’s order. But the Supreme Court censured him for his remarks and ordered a probe by SIT into his controversial remarks.
Khandelwal said the minister had skipped the recent state cabinet meeting and stopped discharging his duty as a minister. “His disappearance is affecting the functioning of his tribal welfare department”, he said.
On Friday, the minister released a video message in which he was seen profusely apologizing with ‘folded hands’ to Col. Qureshi and the country for making the remarks which he described as ‘linguistic mistake’.
