MP: 45-Year- Old Tribal Woman Gang-Raped, Brutalized, 2 Neighbors Held

BHOPAL: A 45-year-old tribal woman in a village in Madhya Pradesh’s Khandwa district was gang-raped and brutalized by her two neighbors, leading her to death, police said on Sunday.
The woman who had gone to attend a wedding ceremony in her village of Khalwa on Friday night.
Her two sons, aged 20 and 22, started searching for her when she failed to return home, police said.
They found her lying in a state of unconsciousness in their neighbor’s place on Saturday morning, according to the police.
The victim was rushed to the local community health Centre where she died.
She however told the doctors and her family members that Hari Ram Korku and Sunil Ram Korku, her neighbors, had sexually assaulted her, before her death, police said.
The woman was raped at Hari Ram Korku’s house after she attended the wedding function on Friday night and left unconscious after heavy bleeding, additional superintendent of police (ASP) Rajesh Raghuvamsi said.
Preliminary medical reports suggested brutal sexual assault on the women, leading to injuries to her private parts and severe damage to uterus, he said.
Preliminary probe by the police indicated that a blunt object might have been inserted to her private parts, leading to fatal injuries, sources said.
Both the accused were arrested and booked for murder and gang-rape, police said.
Police sources said the victim along with Hari Ram Korku and a woman in the village had gone to the marriage function on Friday night.
The victim went to the house of Hari Ram Korku when they returned from the marriage.
Both of them consumed liquor at Hari Ram Korku’s house.
The other accused Sunil later joined them.
