Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the three-day Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav Global Sammelan at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Friday, marking the culmination of year-long celebrations commemorating 75 years of the Chinmaya Mission.

The event, scheduled from October 23 to 25, will bring together more than 9,000 participants from India and abroad, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said on Thursday.

Founded by Swami Chinmayananda in 1951, the Chinmaya Mission is a global spiritual organisation established to make the teachings of Vedanta and the Bhagavad Gita accessible to people.

Over the decades, the mission has expanded its activities to include spiritual education, cultural preservation, youth empowerment and community service.

The year-long celebrations began in 2025 when Modi released a Tamil versification of the Bhagavad Gita, produced by the Chinmaya Mission with music composed by Ilaiyaraaja, at Gangaikonda Cholapuram in Tamil Nadu.

The celebrations included mass havans at several locations, the consecration of the Maa Soundarya Chinmayi temple in Tripura and the Chinmaya Gita Samarpanam programme, under which more than 1 lakh people across the world chanted the 15th chapter of the Bhagavad Gita together online.

Another initiative, Gita Panchamrit, focused on five selected verses of the Bhagavad Gita.

As part of the celebrations, 15 members of the Chinmaya Yuva Kendra undertook the Chinmaya Amrit Yatra, travelling more than 40,000 km across the country to spread the message of the Gita, the PMO said.
