Modi: Digital India Took Innovation To Villages

Vows to build future with humane and sustainable tech

NEW DELHI: "Eleven years of Digital India have given the country a new identity worldwide," said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday as he lauded the government initiative for "redefining governance, empowering citizens and accelerating all-round development" of the country by touching every aspect of life.

The Prime Minister observed that the widespread adoption of technology by over a billion Indians has brought about a transformative change, making Digital India a strong foundation for a developed and self-reliant India.

“Today, we mark 11 years since the Digital India initiative was launched. This initiative has redefined governance, empowered citizens and accelerated all-round development. It has touched every aspect of life. From seamless digital payments and direct benefit transfers reaching beneficiaries with transparency to the expanding digital public infrastructure, technology has become a powerful instrument for furthering ‘Ease of Living’,” Mr Modi posted on X.

The Prime Minister noted that the initiative has strengthened key sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, commerce and public service delivery, making governance more accessible, transparent and efficient.

The Prime Minister further stated that Digital India has taken the wave of innovation to every part of the country, particularly villages and Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities." Young entrepreneurs, startups and innovators from every corner of the country are creating solutions to the pressing challenges that our planet faces. This initiative has strengthened education, healthcare, agriculture, commerce and public service delivery, making governance more transparent, efficient and accessible,” he said.

Highlighting India's growing leadership in emerging technologies, Mr Modi said that the country's progress in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors and quantum computing will open new avenues for growth and opportunity. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to building a future where technology serves humanity, empowers every citizen and drives sustainable development.

“Our strides in the digital world have ensured that India is making rapid progress in emerging technologies such as AI, semiconductors, quantum computing and more. This too will open new avenues for growth and opportunity. Our focus will remain on creating a future where technology serves humanity, empowers every citizen and drives sustainable development,” the Prime Minister added.

Separately, Mr Modi conveyed greetings to doctors and chartered accountants on the occasion of Doctors' Day and Chartered Accountants' Day and said their tireless efforts have earned the trust and gratitude of countless people.
