Bhopal: Judicial Magistrate First Class (JFMC) Anudita Gupta here has denied the plea for a second postmortem (PM) on deceased model, actor Twisha Sharma, whose body has been kept in the morgue of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhopal, for the last ten days after the PM, saying that the matter is beyond her jurisdiction.
The kin of Twisha, who allegedly died by suicide in her marital home here on May 12, had earlier moved the JFMC seeking a directive to the police to conduct second PM outside Madhya Pradesh since they are not satisfied with the first PM, done in the AIIMS, Bhopal.
The JFMC however pleaded its inability to take a decision on the matter saying that it is beyond its jurisdiction.
The court however directed the police to ensure preservation of the body at any suitable place.
The court’s directive comes in the wake of apprehension expressed by the police that the body may be decomposed since the morgue in the AIIMS, Bhopal, has a facility to preserve the body in minus four degree Celsius.
Under this condition, a body can be preserved only for four to five days.
Police however said that arrangements are being made to preserve the body at a suitable place to stop it from being decomposed.
Meanwhile, police here raised the bounty on Twisha’s advocate husband Samarth Singh, who has been absconding since the last nine days, from Rs 10,000 to Rs 30,000.
A lookout circular has already been issued for him by the police.
In another development, the kin of Twisha have decided to move the Madhya Pradesh high court seeking revocation of the anticipatory bail granted to her mother-in-law Giribala Singh, a retired district judge.
Twisha’s husband and mother-in-law have been booked following her unnatural death.
In another development, the state food and civil supply department has initiated a move to remove the retired judge from the post of chairperson of the local consumer court following the FIR filed against her in connection with Twisha’s death.
Twisha married Samarth in December 2025.
Samarth was the legal advisor to the Madhya Pradesh government between 2023-2025.
